Productivity apps for videographers and editors.

I film a LOT of basketball. Over time, I grew frustrated with parts of my day-to-day workflow, so I built some tools that help me speedrun to the actual creative editing part.

What a typical shoot looks like

step 1

Film A LOT of clips.

A basketball tournament can leave me with close to 3,000 clips. And because I film basketball games, they all have near-identical thumbnails. There is a very real dread of drowning in that sea of clips before any editing can start.

step 2

Triage with RushCut.

RushCut is the app I built to get through that pile of clips fast.

Mac only
  • Hover to scrub any clip. No clicking, no QuickTime.
  • Hit a number to rate. Your hands never leave the keyboard.
  • Cover the lens after a great play and RushCut tags the banger for you.

step 3

Get a sense of what I can work with.

With triage out of the way, I know fairly quickly what I have to work with. I also enjoy getting players to see their clips shortly after a tournament, so I built a platform for exactly that.

step 4

Prepare vertical reels with buttery speed ramps.

Then the editing kicks in. This is where I spent way too much time trying to create smooth speed ramps and vertical centering, so I built SlowRamp.

Mac only
  • Speed ramps for video and audio, smoothed by default.
  • Super slow motion with Optical Flow.
  • Vertical crop with keyframed centering, plus timed zoom.

step 5

Polish the edit in Resolve, and share!

Finally, the task I truly enjoy: the creative editing. This is the part where I like to spend my time, and look forward to hit the share button soon after.
